Adelaide United-s Women-s Team will be aiming for the strongest of replies when they take on Sydney FC at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday.

After promising back-to-back performances against Perth Glory and Brisbane Roar where the Lady Reds were unlucky to lose 2-1 on both occasions, coach David Edmondson acknowledged the 4-0 loss to Melbourne Victory was well below par.

But he admitted his side is already on track to turn in another spirited effort against last season-s runners up.

“It was very disappointing both in terms of the result but also in terms of the performance,” he said.

“We are better than we showed last Saturday and we need to move on from last week and look to get back to the way we were playing before last weekend.”

“The girls have already responded positively. They were disappointed in their performance and know they are better than that. They, as a group, have decided to be harder on themselves and each other to demand better performances both in training and in games.”

Edmondson said despite the loss last week and the quality of opponent on Saturday, the Lady Reds wouldn-t be changing too much ahead of facing off against Sydney FC.

“We will prepare the same as we prepare every week,” he said.

“We-re looking to develop our way of playing and ensuring that we individually and collectively know our roles and responsibilities within the game plan.”

“We know it will be a tough game, but every game in this league is and we will keep working hard and keep trying to improve.”

At the half-way mark of the 2011/12 campaign the Lady Reds are still searching for their first points of the season.

Despite a pair of unlucky results against the Roar and Glory where United could have snatched a point if not all three, Edmondson said the Lady Reds- aspirations haven-t changed from the start of the season.

“The girls obviously want to get some points on the board and to win some games, but they know that the only thing they can control is their personal and collective team performances,” he said.

“After that if a decision or two goes our way and we get the rub of the green, results will follow. If we all do our jobs to the best of our ability – that is all that we can ask.”
