Adelaide United Head Coach, Marco Kurz, conceded Perth Glory were deserving winners after his side suffered a 1-0 loss at nib Stadium on Saturday.

Goalkeeper, Paul Izzo, was sensational for the Reds, coming to Adelaide’s rescue several times – which included a penalty save to deny Diego Castro on four minutes.

But despite Adelaide dominating possession and resisting the Glory, Andy Keogh broke the deadlock in the 80th minute with a leaping header.

Kurz admitted the Reds were not at their best and the result was justified.

“I think the result was correct, the better team won,” Kurz reflected in the post-match press conference.

“Our first-half was the worst one in the season we played and the best one is the result for 0-0 at half-time.

“In the second-half we were a little bit better, but not good enough for a result, for a draw or for a win.

“Now we must analyse this game and we look forward to the next game against Newcastle.”

The German tactician also praised Izzo for an impressive outing. He made a host of crucial saves, particularly in the opening 15 minutes to keep the Reds in the match.

Kurz remained upbeat insisting his side will examine the game and look to improve moving forward.

“I think positively, for me it’s what I said, we analyse the game and then we start again,” he said.

“It’s not the last game we’ll lose in the season and we must always look forward and stay positive.”

The former Schalke 04 defender spoke about the competitiveness of the Hyundai A-League and discussed Adelaide’s next opponents – Newcastle Jets.

The Jets are unbeaten to begin the campaign and most recently brushed aside Wellington Phoenix 3-0.

“I think every game in the league this season is very close,” he said.

“You can win or you can lose against all teams and Newcastle are a top team.

“We played against them in the cup and we know about their quality.

“They are in good shape, in good form and we play at home and we’ll (do our best to) win.”

Adelaide United host Newcastle Jets in Round 6 of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season on Saturday, 11 November at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 5.05pm ACDT.
