Marco Kurz was proud of his side’s “professional performance” against Bentleigh Greens on Friday night to advance to the FFA Cup 2018 decider.

The German was delighted with the overall display from his team but believed his side must still be more clinical in front of goal.

Ben Halloran bagged his first goal in Red to open the scoring on 21 minutes, while Jordan Elsey struck after the break, pouncing on the rebound to finish Isaías’ initial parried free-kick.

“We’re very happy, I think it was a very professional game from our side today,” Kurz told Fox Sports after the 2-0 win.

“And we’re happy to reach the final again.

“I think the attitude and the performance from the boys was very professional.

“I think we played well, the only mistake was that we didn’t score more goals, I think we can score a lot more goals but it’s okay.

“It’s not easy to play against an NPL team and Bentleigh is a very good team, they’re very strong.”

Kurz, who has now guided the Club to successive FFA Cup Finals, stated they have achieved one of their main objectives, established at the start of pre-season back in June.

The ex-Schalke defender revealing his side can now begin preparation for their Hyundai A-League season opener against Sydney FC in less than a fortnight.

“I think it’s very important (to play as many competitive games), the pre-season is very long in Australia,” he said.

“And it’s very good to have official games and now today it was our last step to reach the final again.

“And the job is done for the pre-season, our aim was to reach the final and now we can start the focus for the first home game in two weeks.”

With new recruit Mirko Boland delivering another impressive shift alongside Isaías in midfield, Kurz believes the duo are forging a formidable partnership.

“Each game for both of them it’s very important they can develop and can improve,” he continued.

“I think Boland will be a good player for us for the whole season.”

The Reds will face the winner of Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers in Saturday night’s other Semi-final, with the draw to reveal the host of the title decider occurring after the game, live and exclusive on Fox Sports, Channel 503.
