Kosmina on brink of coaching milestone

A win against Melbourne Heart on Friday night would see Reds boss John Kosmina join a rare group of Hyundai A-League coaches.

Coming into the match with the Heart, Kosmina sits on 49 wins in the Hyundai A-League as a coach, needing just one more to reach the half century milestone and be added to a list of just two to have achieved the feat.

Only Wellington Phoenix mastermind Ricki Herbert and former Melbourne Victory Coach Ernie Merrick have won 50 Hyundai A-League games as coach.

Kosmina-s tally of 49 Hyundai A-League victories consists of 36 for Adelaide United and 13 for Sydney FC.

In his first stint at the Reds, Kosmina managed United to 13 wins in the inaugural season before recording ten the following year.

He then took over Sydney FC where he won 13 games as coach of the Sky Blues between 2007 and 2009, with his second stint back in Adelaide bringing 13 wins so far.

While victory at AAMI Park would see him join a select group, Kosmina has never been one to make a lot of personal accolades, and one can be sure that the only thing on his mind will be around the Reds consolidating their place in the top two.
