The Austrian born midfielder began his playing career in his hometown at an early age, almost signing for the academy at Austria Vienna when he was 10, before moving with his family to England, and finally Australia.
Jimmy started his A-League campaign for the Victory in the 2011/12 Season but endured a tough period last year under Ange Postecoglou.
Speaking exclusively to the Club, it was Josep Gombau and Adelaide’s playing style that ultimately led to Jimmy’s decision to sign for the Reds and he couldn’t turn down their continued interest.
“The fact that they were interested even last year was a good sign for me,” said the 22 year old.
“I want to improve as a player and Josep and the club definitely seem like they can help me do that.”
Jimmy will face stiff competition in the likes of Carrusca and Isaias in his preferred position of central midfield, but he is excited for the challenge and hopes that playing alongside them will improve his own performance.
“The biggest thing is that I want to improve as a player and by doing that it’ll give me a few more chances to play,” said a determined Jeggo.
“I think I’ve proven that I’m more than capable of playing regularly; it’s just about getting those chances.
“I’m sure that I’ll get those chances here at Adelaide United.”
Jimmy is used to playing with big midfielders, by getting the chance to rub shoulders with his favourite player, Steven Gerrard, when Liverpool played Victory in July last year.
When asked about moving to a rival club, Jimmy’s first priority was putting his own performance ahead.
“The whole moving to a different club is new to me so I’m just looking forward to getting out there, as I’ve been at Victory for most of my playing career,” he said.
“It was a very frustrating 18 months when I was there but I learnt a huge amount from Ange in terms of the tactical side of football.
“I’m now looking forward to working with Josep and I just can’t wait to start here.”
Jimmy Jeggo who will wear number 18, will join his new team mates next week when pre-season commences.
