Adelaide United is delighted to announce goalkeeper, Paul Izzo, has signed a two-year contract extension with the Club.

Izzo’s existing deal was set to expire at the end of this season, but after putting pen-to-paper he will remain contracted to Adelaide until the conclusion of the Hyundai A-League 2021/22 campaign.

The 24-year-old has made 70 appearances across all competitions in his second stint with his hometown team, helping the Reds secure successive FFA Cup titles in 2018 and 2019.

Izzo received his Reds debut in December 2012 and after three years serving as the Club’s back-up gloveman, he joined Central Coast Mariners for two seasons before returning in 2017.

Speaking about re-signing with the Reds for a further two years, Izzo said: “I couldn’t be happier to have signed this contract extension with Adelaide United.

“Playing in front of your family and closest friends week in, week out is an amazing feeling and something I’ve always appreciated.

“Being an Adelaide boy and playing here for so much of my career has been really enjoyable and I’m sure that’s going to continue.

“Winning back-to-back FFA Cups was an unreal experience but as a group we’re hungry for more and I’m looking forward to creating even more history for the club in the coming seasons.”

Director of Football, Bruce Djite, said ensuring Izzo’s services remained in Adelaide was a priority for the Club.

“Paul is unquestionably one of the best goalkeepers in the A-League and we believe he will only continue to improve.

“For a goalkeeper, Paul is still very young, but to have made more than 100 appearances in the A-League alone makes him a very experienced member of our squad.

“Paul is highly regarded and we expect to see him consistently deliver outstanding performances.

“We value Paul’s quality both as a footballer and more importantly as a person and we’re delighted to secure another great South Australian talent to the Club for another two years.”
