Isaías: There’s still work to be done

Isaías says the Reds are ecstatic with their come-from-behind win over the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday, but with current league Champions, Melbourne Victory, their next opponents, United won’t be resting on their laurels.

Adelaide United’s comeback against the Mariners was sparked by an in-form Isaías, who masterfully dispatched an inch-perfect free-kick, which revived the Reds’ hopes of extending their unbeaten run to 11 matches.

Further goals from Bruce Djite and Stefan Mauk rounded off a reassuring performance from Guillermo Amor’s men and continued their recent dominance of the Hyundai A-League.

The Spaniard, Isaías, stated there was no denying United was pleased with getting the three points away from home, also saying it will be important for the squad to continue their good form.

“We are very happy about this win, as we needed those three points,” Isaías said. “At the moment we have this momentum that we cannot stop.

“I am not used to scoring too many goals, so I am very happy with that, but most importantly it helped the team to get the three points and this is what matters.”

The Reds are now preparing for the difficult task of overcoming Melbourne Victory on Friday night, with the current Hyundai A-League Champions coming off a controversial 2-2 draw in the Melbourne Derby.

With sights now firmly on the next game, Isaías highlighted the importance of the match against Victory, claiming the Reds know exactly what to expect from their fiercest rivals.

“It will be a very tough game for us, we know how good they can play on their home ground but we also know what we have to do in this case,” he continued. “It is a massive game for the Club and we must try and take something good from it.

“We are in third position now, but we have to keep going, game by game and then look at the ladder after.

“We had started this season slowly because we needed to adjust, but now that we are achieving what he (Amor) wants us to do, we are now doing very well and we are confident that it can continue.”
