Isaías says he is looking forward to leading Adelaide United out in their first competitive game of the 2018/19 season.

The Reds host Central Coast Mariners in the Round of 32 of the FFA Cup 2018 at Marden Sports Complex on Wednesday night.

Isaías said the squad was eager to face the Mariners after more than a month of intense pre-season training.

“We’re really excited about the new season and I think it’s the first official game for us,” Isaías said.

“And we’ve been training for over a month for this game and everyone is really excited to play and start well this season.”

The Captain revealed his team have worked on a number of aspects during training and insists they are primed and ready.

“I think most of the trainings we’ve worked on our fitness and also tactically,” he said.

“And I think everybody knows more or less our system, our style and I think everybody looks sharp.”

Several new faces are in line to make their official Reds debuts against the Mariners.

Isaías said he has been impressed with how seamlessly the recent signings have adjusted to life in Adelaide.

“They’ve adapted very quickly,” he said.

“I’m surprised because it’s difficult when you come to a new club and even a new country and sometimes it’s very difficult and you need time to adapt.

“But I think they’ve done really well and they’ve adapted very quickly and we’re very happy with them.”

The Spaniard went on to add he hoped to see United’s latest imports such as the likes of Mirko Boland and Ken Ilsø feature in the clash but stated the final decision would be down to Head Coach, Marco Kurz.

“I think they’re very good players, they’re experienced players, they can bring us a lot of things,” he said.

“And I hope that they can help us on Wednesday but obviously it’s a decision from Marco and hopefully we will reach the next round.”

Isaías also revealed that he is a huge fan of the FFA Cup and said a win was extra crucial in order to play as many competitive games as possible ahead of the Hyundai A-League season.

“I personally like this competition a lot,” he explained.

“I think it’s very attractive for everyone it’s a one game round – you win you go and if you lose you stay home.

“And I think it’s very important for us to reach the next round because otherwise the pre-season will be very long and I think we’re looking forward to reaching the next round.”
