Adelaide United is delighted to announce star midfielder, Isaías Sánchez, returns to the Club on a three-year deal.

One of the most decorated players in the Club’s history, Isaías returns to the Reds after inking a contract that will see him remain until the end of the A-League 2023/24 season.

The midfield maestro spent six years at Adelaide between 2013 and 2019 before departing for Qatari-based side Al-Wakrah for two seasons.

A record four-time Aurelio Vidmar Club Champion, the 34-year-old Spaniard scored 10 goals in 181 matches to sit third in the Club’s all-time appearances list.

During his first stint in the City of Churches, Isaías won two FFA Cups, an A-League Premiership and Championship double in 2016 – dispatching a stunning free-kick on his way to claiming the Joe Marston Medal in the Grand Final at Adelaide Oval – and served as Captain for the final two years of his stay.

Speaking on re-joining the Reds, Isaías, said: “My family and I are really, really happy to be coming back home to Adelaide.

“I’m looking forward to arriving in South Australia and training with the boys and settling back into Australian life.

“Returning to Adelaide United was an easy decision after being in Qatar for two years because it is a special club and the most special club I have played at in my whole career.

“I have achieved many things wearing the red shirt in the past and I hope we can achieve many more over the next three seasons together.”

Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “Isaías is arguably one of the greatest players in the history of the A-League and the player I consider to be the best Adelaide United’s seen.

“We’re bringing back a player with an enormous amount of pedigree and class who has had a lot of success here at Adelaide both on a personal and collective level.

“The experience and leadership Isaías brings back to our squad is invaluable and we’re thrilled to have him coming back home.”
