Isaías believes the Reds’ greater fitness levels was pivotal in Adelaide United’s dramatic 2-1 come-from-behind win over Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

Marco Kurz’s men again fell behind early through Massimo Maccarone’s close-range volley and started the clash somewhat sluggishly.

Substitute Ryan Kitto got the visitors back on level terms with a powerful finish after combining with fellow sub Baba Diawara on 88 minutes.

And moments later new signing, Johan Absalonsen, rifled an effort, smashing the underside of the crossbar in the 92nd minute to snatch the three points.

Isaías lauded the team’s desire to not give up and attributed the Reds’ gruelling pre-season as one of the main reasons for having the ability to score two goals in the final stages of proceedings.

“It’s a fantastic win, we knew it would be a difficult game,” the United Captain told Fox Sports after being awarded the NAB Man of the Match.

“We showed that we fought until the end and we are fit enough to win every game.

“I think we worked very hard in the pre-season and we know the game sometimes is very long.

“And we showed that we can win in the last minutes.”

The Spaniard also praised the new imports that have come to the Club in what has been a revamped squad over the off-season.

Australian-born Turkish international Ersan Gülüm, German midfielder Daniel Adlung, Danish winger Absalonsen and ex-Algerian international Karim Matmour all arrived boasting impressive pedigrees.

“I think we have had the new players from the start of pre-season and the new signings are making the difference in the games,” he continued.

“And we are very happy with them.”
