Adelaide United FC midfielder, Isaías Sánchez, has taken out the Aurelio Vidmar Club Champion Award for Season 9 in the Hyundai A-League.

Adelaide United FC midfielder, Isaías Sánchez, has taken out the Aurelio Vidmar Club Champion Award for Season 9 in the Hyundai A-League.

The Reds celebrated the highs of their season at a gala event at the Beachhouse Function Centre tonight. Isaías made his debut season with the club one to remember after inaugural captain, Aurelio Vidmar, made the announcement of the Club Champion.

Having joined the Reds from Spain for the start of the season, Isaías played 26 of a possible 27 games, of which he started in 26 of them. The 27 year old finished seventh highest in the league for passing efficiency, while he also had the most attempted passes of any player for the season to further highlight his impressive 2013/14 campaign.

“It is a great honour and I am so happy to win this award,” Isaías said.

“Playing for this club has meant a lot to me, and I thank everyone. The players, the coach and my wife. Thank you”

Local defender Osama Malik who was second in the voting, capped off his stellar season as being named Best Team Man.

Playmaker Marcelo Carrusca rounded out the top four in the count, but the exceptional midfielder did not go home empty handed as he claimed two awards for the night, the Player-s Player Award as well as the ‘We Are The Reds- Fans Player Of The Year. His performances also earned him the accolade of The Advertiser Channel Seven Golden Boots Player of the Year.

Forwards, Jeronimo and Fabio Ferreira shared the spoils of The Advertiser Channel Seven News Leading Goal Scorer, having scored 9-goals each.

Following his 2011/12 Youth Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) win, promising young defender Jordan Elsey took out the club-s Rising Star Award.

For the Youth Team, striker Anthony Costa took out the Youth Team Highest Goal Scorer with 14 goals, who was also the top goal scorer for the 2013/14 Foxtel National Youth League, while the Youth Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) went to Dion Kirk.

The Reds- senior squad will now officially go on leave before returning for pre-season training on 16 June. Players will be unavailable for any media opportunities during this time.

A panel of judges has voted for the winner of this award at the completion of each game played based the following criteria; made a significant positive difference to the team-s performance during the games played, and represented the club in an exemplary way on the field of play.

Player-s Player – Marcelo Carrusca
Voted by his team mates to be consistently the most valuable player on the park, sets standards on and off the park that all players in the team aspire to and best exemplifies their ideal type of player.

Best Team Man – Osama Malik
A panel of judges has voted the winner of this award as a player who exemplifies on and off the park the culture, values and morals that all members of the squad can aspire to, has shown themselves to consistently put their needs second to that of the team and has never complained about making a sacrifice.

Rising Star – Jordan Elsey
A young player who was voted by a panel of judges to have made a significant impact over the season, demonstrated the greatest growth in their development as a professional player and promises the greatest potential growth as a professional player.

‘We Are The Reds Forum- Fans Player of the Year – Marcelo Carrusca
Voted by Reds Fans on the We Are The Reds Fourm as to be consistently the most valuable player on the park.

Youth Team Most Valuable Player – Dion Kirk
A player who consistently made a significant positive difference to the team-s performance during the games played and portrays a totally professional attitude to everything he did on the park throughout the season.

Youth Team Highest Goal Scorer – Anthony Costa
A player who scores the most number of goals throughout the season.
