The Reds confirmed the news at the Club’s official season launch at the Hilton Adelaide in association with Little Heroes Foundation.

Isaías addressed those at the event, describing the immense pride he had in being able to represent the Club in such a way – something he was very thankful for and that he’d do to the utmost of his abilities.

Isaías said it was an absolute privilege to be handed the Reds captaincy, after joining the Club in 2013.

“For me it’s something special,’’ he said. “I know it’s a big responsibility to be captain but it’s something very nice for me and I’m very excited to be the captain of Adelaide United.

“I hope I can help the team to have a successful season.”

The Spaniard also believes the extra responsibility will not be a burden due to his strong leadership qualities.

“I’m a natural leader, I have been the same since I started playing football,’’ he continued.

“For me, my role will be very similar and almost the same on the field because that’s wat I have been doing in the past and it won’t be a problem for me.”

It was an enjoyable evening as more than 300 people attended the event ahead of the new season. Hosted by media personality, Tom Rehn, the guests were entertained by presentations, speeches, in addition to a major and silent auction.

Chairman Greg Griffin spoke about the team’s positive start under new Head Coach, Marco Kurz, praising the coaching staff and playing group for their encouraging performances so far.

The Club’s Premier Partner, IGA’s, General Manager of South Australia and Northern Territory, Zac Mina, presented each player in the squad with their Adelaide United Hyundai A-league 2017/18 home shirt.

Head Coach Marco Kurz was then given the opportunity to address the guests and started out by talking about how he has adjusted to life in Adelaide.

The German tactician further discussed his side’s strong pre-season form and Westfield FFA Cup run, before outlining some of the team’s ambitions ahead of the new season.

Isaías and Taylor Regan gave their thoughts about working with Kurz and believe the squad can take plenty of confidence heading into the impending season, thanks to several promising displays.

New signings Ersan Gülüm, Karim Matmour, and Johan Absalonsen all revealed that they have settled in well and are excited about playing in the Hyundai A-League for the first time.

Absalonsen, who has slotted in seamlessly on the left wing, went on to admit the long off-season has enabled him to get to know his teammates and the style Marco is trying to implement.

Adelaide will kick-off its campaign on Sunday, 8 October away to Wellington Phoenix, and play its first home match in Round 3 against fierce rivals Melbourne Victory at Adelaide Oval on Friday, 20 October.
