Adelaide United will face bottom-placed Cumberland United, in Round 11 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues at A.A Bailey Reserve on Saturday.
Despite the most recent loss a fortnight ago, Adelaide United have showed progress and determination to bounce back from a tought start to the campaign.
The Young Reds will look to re-create the form that secured a season best unbeaten streak of four games between Rounds 6-9.
The result of Round 10 did not go Adelaide’s way, with a heavy 6-0 loss to West Torrens Birkalla at The Parks Football Centre.
Meanwhile, Cumberland came close to getting their second win of the season, but fell short to Para Hills Knights in a 0-1 loss away from home at The Paddocks.
Head Coach, Huss Skenderovic said that spirits remain high within the squad and it is good to know that the Club’s main focus now lies with the National Premier League season.
“We had a couple of days off which was good, and also had a training session on Tuesday morning which went really well and refreshed the group,” he said.
“Training had a good intensity level, and it is a good feeling to see that amongst the group.
“Everyone is in high spirits, and now that the Hyundai A-League campaign in finished, there is more focus on our team and the NPL.
“With last week against West Torrens Birkalla, some weeks the game plan just isn’t going to work for some reason, but it hasn’t shaken up the players at all and they don’t lack in confidence.”
Skenderovic said that his side are ready for the challenge against Cumberland United, and knows that they will want the three points to help their campaign as they are sitting bottom.
“We will revisit again this week against Cumberland United, it is another game and another challenge.
“It will be tough, and obviously being at the bottom of the table they will come out firing, but we will definitely give it another crack.”
Skenderovic is full of enthusiasm with his team, and knows what they are capable of when they play their best football, and is confident heading into game-day.
“I am definitely confident heading into the match, as I know what we are capable of doing,” he continued.
“We believe in what we do, and when we are on it, we are on it, and we can turn it on.
“And that is youth football, sometimes they are on it, and are interested, and then all of sudden, they can switch off.
“That is why we go into every game with positive thoughts and energy, and try to get something out of the game and aim to play good football, which is what we will do this weekend.”
The Young Reds take on Cumberland United at A.A Bailey Reserve on Saturday, 20 May. Kick-off is 3pm, Reserves at 1pm.
