After re-signing for the upcoming Westfield W-League 2019/20, Adelaide United Women midfielder, Kahlia Hogg, was determined to repay the faith shown in her by Ivan Karlović.

Hogg said she was “incredibly happy” to be back and ready to make up for lost time after being restricted to just two matches last season due to a persistent knee complaint.

“I think for me I’m raring to go,” she explained.

“A little bit of unfinished business here so to say in that I would’ve liked to played out more of the season last year.

“I had a pretty solid season in the premier league up in Sydney so I feel like I’m ready to get back into it and really represent Adelaide in the W-League.”

Hogg played 21 matches and scored four goals for Illawarra Stingrays in the 1st – NPL NSW Women’s 2019 over the off-season.

The 25-year-old is also indebted to the Club and Head Coach, Karlović for giving her another opportunity to prove herself.

“In a lot of situations the coach and the club would’ve said, ‘thank you for your time’ and considered it a bit of a liability,” she believed.

“But I think it gives credit to Ivan and the club that they’ve the confidence to bring me back in.

“And hopefully I can pay them back and contribute back to the team what I would’ve liked to last year.”

Hogg, who has previously represented Canberra United and Western Sydney Wanderers, added that the team is chasing a top-four finish.

She added the nature of the competition means that any side has a realistic chance of challenging for finals.

“I think any team going into this league is contending for a finals spot,” she said.

“It’s that kind of league with the strength across the board.

“And I think our team was very young last year and for us this is the chance to take a year’s worth of experience particularly for the younger girls.

“They used to the intensity of the W-League now and really contend for a finals position.

“A lot of teams particularly in this league it fluctuates, player movements in and out but Ivan has done a really good job of maintaining the core squad and I think that’s going to be really beneficial for us.”
