Adelaide United Women defender, Emily Hodgson, is excited to be back and looking forward to working with Ivan Karlovic after re-signing with the Reds for the upcoming Westfield W-League 2019/20 season.

Hodgson, who joined the Club in 2016 and has since gone to accumulate 29 games, was thrilled to be returning.

“It’s awesome to get re-signed again,” She claimed.

“It’s been great my three seasons here and I can’t wait for this one.

“It’s great they we have Ivan as a coach and I think it will be an awesome season.”

Hodgson said Karlović’s return as Head Coach for a third consecutive campaign brings a sense of continuity as they try to build on the foundations put in place last year.

“I think having Ivan back will be great and we’ll be able to build on what we had last season,” She said.

“It’s great stability, he’s got local girls coming into the team and I think it’s great that we’ve him back.”

The right-back said the ultimate goal is to secure an elusive finals appearance, and revealed her personal objectives she was looking to achieve.

After playing 90 minutes in all of her 11 appearances last season, Hodgson was again determined to cement a starting berth, but not before ensuring a spot in the Young Matildas side for next month’s 2019 AFC U-19 Women’s Championship in Thailand.

“It would be awesome to make finals and it would be extra special for me because I’m a local Adelaide girl,” Hodgson said, who has seven caps for the Australia U-20 team.

“Obviously making finals is a team goal, but for me personally just getting a place in the starting XI and playing most of the games if possible and hopefully make the Young Matildas squad.”
