Grant secures Sweden move during off-season

Charlotte Grant Adelaide United vs Western Sydney Wanderers

Adelaide United wishes to advise defender Charlotte Grant has joined Swedish top-flight side FC RosengÄrd.

Grant moves to the Malmö-based club which finished second in the Damallsvenskan last campaign.

The 19-year-old has spent the last three seasons with the Reds since signing in 2018 and has gone on to accumulate 34 appearances in the Westfield W-League.

Speaking about the move, Grant said she was extremely excited about the new challenge.

“I’m really looking forward to testing myself in a completely new environment,” she said.

“The opportunity to play overseas has always been a personal goal of mine and to see that now come to fruition reflects the dedication and work I’ve put in so far in my career, as well as learning from some of the amazing coaches.

“Adrian (Stenta) and Ivan (Karlović) obviously stand out for me at Adelaide United and Leah Blayney, who has been my Future Matildas and Young Matildas coach for the past two years.

“Representing my hometown team in Adelaide United over the last three years has been a dream come true and I hope to be back again next season.

“A real target of mine is to make the Matildas squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023ℱ on home soil and I believe playing in Europe improves my chances of reaching that.”

Head Coach of the Club’s Westfield W-League side, Adrian Stenta, said: “Charlotte has grown a lot as a footballer from when she first joined the Club until now.

“We’re really happy to see her make the move overseas and I’ve no doubt she will give herself every possible chance to succeed.”

Adelaide United’s Head of Women’s Football, Ivan Karlović, added: “Charlotte enjoyed another solid season and we feel now is the perfect time for her to test herself in a very strong competition.

“Charlotte follows in the footsteps of Dylan Holmes who has also made the move to Sweden and we believe that will have a very positive effect on their development as players and in turn benefit the Club moving forward.”

The aim is for Grant to return to Adelaide United Women for next season’s Westfield W-League season.
