Fresh from scoring an incredible brace in the FFA Cup Final, Craig Goodwin repeated his efforts against the Central Coast Mariners on Sunday evening.

Adelaide United recorded a dominant 3-0 win in Gosford thanks to a double from Goodwin, as well as turning provider for Apostolos Stamatelopoulos.

The 26-year-old’s prolific scoring continued and has now bagged eight goals in seven matches in all competitions since returning to the Club.

Goodwin said it was great to consolidate Tuesday night’s cup triumph but reiterated his coach, Marco Kurz’s sentiments – that they must rectify their profligacy in front of goal.

“Obviously the other night on Tuesday was fantastic to come away with the cup,” Goodwin said.

“But I think the really important thing is that we came here and we put in a reasonable display.

“Our overall play was pretty good but in the final third we were I think very wasteful.”

Goodwin admitted his side must take this performance and improve on it when they host Perth Glory at Coopers Stadium in the Remembrance Round clash on Sunday.

He further added that following the cup win the squad along with the coaching staff reassessed their objectives for the rest of the season.

The winger stated the team have now shifted their focus to reaching the Hyundai A-League Finals Series.

“We won the cup and we enjoyed the day after and two days after we went to training,” he said.

“The coach said we’ve won it and I’m happy for you boys, but now we enjoy it at the end of the season.

“But we’ve got to do well in the league now to prove to the rest of the league it’s not just a fluke.

“It’s not just something of working hard in pre-season and we win the first one (trophy).

“We want to do more, we want to be in the finals at the end of the season and then go one step further than we did last year.”
