Adelaide United coach Josep Gombau was pleased that his side was able to secure their second away win in as many games after beating Central Coast 2-0 in Gosford.

Speaking after the match, Gombau said that winning away will be the difference come the end of the season.

“Every away game is an important game especially now that we are approaching the top of the table.

“It starts with Melbourne Victory on Friday night where we we will try and go there to take the three points.”

The Reds struggled to settle at the beginning of their game against the Mariners, but Gombau said that Pablo Sanchez’ brace changed the pace of the game.

“The game was very equal until he (Pablo) scored.

“After that we tried to keep the ball more and win the game in this way.”

Both Marcelo Carrusca and Bruce Djite are expected to be back for selection for Friday night’s match, and Gombau says that the five day break will help the Reds be ready and firing for Melbourne Victory.

“We started preparing on Monday, the day after our match against Central Coast.

“Five days will be enough for recovery as we approach our next very important game.”

The club urges travelling fans to enjoy a safe and responsible journey to Melbourne for our match against the Victory
