For Eugene Galekovic, the Reds- Boxing Day blockbuster against Brisbane Roar cannot come soon enough.

The Reds- reputation as a team to beat this season took a hit when they were outgunned by the Western Sydney Wanderers last Friday night, and while Galekovic knows it is not the end of the world, it does not sit well with a man who wears his heart on his sleeve every time he takes the field.

“It was one of those games where everything went wrong, and we know we-re better than that and we-ve just got to prove it on Wednesday,” Galekovic said.

“I think you-ve got to show some respect to Western Sydney, they-re a very good team, very organised and we just didn-t know how to break them down or keep the ball.”

If there is something positive to come out of last Friday-s defeat, it is that the Reds do not have long before a shot at righting the wrongs and putting it down to just a bad day at the office.

As the Reds prepare for their first ever Boxing Day encounter at Hindmarsh, Galekovic knows the chance to play at home in front of the United faithful will count for plenty against the Roar.

“Obviously on Wednesday we-re at home so we-ve just got to come out and show that we can improve and beat Brisbane,” Galekovic said.

“I think the guys want to get to this Brisbane game as soon as possible because we are disappointed with the result against Western Sydney.”

“On the training track today it was quite fiery and the boys were willing to throw their bodies around so we can-t wait for Wednesday night.”
