The Young Reds bring the curtain down on their Foxtel Y-League 2017/18 season at Smith Partners Stadium against Brisbane Roar Youth this Thursday.
The final round of the Foxtel Y-League sees the Young Reds play at new NPL home ground Smith Partners Stadium at Modbury in Adelaide's north against Brisbane Roar.
The final fixture against Roar is an opportunity to secure third place in Conference A, with a win potentially pushing the boys above Perth Glory.
Reflecting on the previous fixture, Young Reds Head Coach, Paul Pezos, was disappointed with the result against Melbourne Victory in his side's last outing.
”I thought we were really good for the first 25 minutes, we were in control and we scored two nice goals, then due to lack of concentration we conceded some silly goals.
“We made some changes at half time but it wasn’t enough and we still lost out 4-3.”
There was no time to be disappointed though, as Pezos flew out the day after to Indonesia with a contingent of Youth Team players for the 2018 PSM Makassar Supercup.
“Once we finished at Melbourne Victory we flew off to Indonesia to play against some senior men’s teams, with teams from Cambodia, Singapore, and Bali.”
Pezos was happy to recall some great performances against some strong senior teams in the competition and believed that the results would bring some confidence for the final Y-League game against Brisbane Roar.
“We’re looking forward to this game and we’re going into it with confidence after a series of good performances in Indonesia I think we’ll be able to clinch three-points.
“The result last time (4-1 win) was a big result and I’m sure they’ll be coming out to change that this time."
Adelaide United Youth will Brisbane Roar Youth in Round 9 of the Foxtel Y-League 2017/18 season on Thursday, 1 February at The Smith Partners Stadium. Kick-off is at 10:00 AM ACDT.
