Adelaide United Youth play a home fixture this week against Perth Glory Youth on Thursday morning at Marden Sports Complex in Round 6 of the Foxtel National Youth League 2017/18 season.
Jumping to second spot on the table two weeks ago in a thrilling 4-1 win over Brisbane Roar, coach Paul Pezos was very pleased with his teams scintillating performance.
“We started off quite well, started dominating and we scored a nice goal.
“Credit to the boys in tough conditions, because it was very hot and we made some changes in the second half and those boys that came on made the difference.”
“Conceding from a defensive set piece, which is a little disappointing because we could have dealt with it in a better way.”
A win this week would see the Young Reds even on points with top of the table Melbourne City. Pezos however wasn’t too concerned.
“We’re not looking at the ladder, it’s obviously good to be at the top come the end of the season with the incentive but like I said, we’re focusing on our opponent week in, week out and trying to better ourselves.”
“We go game by game, we don’t look back, it’s about us and trying to improve.”
On their upcoming opponents Perth Glory, Pezos was optimistic and remembered fondly the reverse fixture in which the Young Reds won 3-1 on the road.
“They would have analysed and seen our team, but we have a game plan we have to fulfil and if we do that right we can come away with the three points.”
The Young Reds face Perth Glory Youth in Round 6 of the Foxtel Y-League 2017/18 season on Thursday, 29 December at Marden Sports Complex. Kick-off is at 10.30am. Entry is free.
