Adelaide United’s Youth Team play their first home game of the season this Saturday at the Marden Sports Complex against opponents Melbourne City in Round 2 of the Foxtel National Youth League 2017/18 season.

Young Reds’ boss, Paul Pezos, is feeling positive after an exhilarating 3-1-win last week against Perth Glory and hopes to continue the team’s winning ways this Saturday.

Speaking on his side’s performance last week, Pezos said: “Obviously it’s quite difficult playing a game first thing in the morning, but it’s a great opportunity to experience.

“That’s more professional and to come away with a win away from home is always a great start, especially the first game.

“Last week all the players stepped up, worked hard and were together collectively, which is great because we’re trying to establish a winning mentality as well as developing the team.”

Pezos was happy with his team’s brand of football during the result last week and believes that this week it’s all about development and continuing to produce attractive football.

“At times, we played good football and at times we had to be defensive,” he said. “We’re preparing for what we’re trying to do and playing the style of football we want to play, hopefully we can come away with the result.

“Our focus is about us, it’s about how we’re looking to develop our players and what we’re trying to do.”

On this week’s opponent, Melbourne City, Pezos believed that regardless of how the opposition set up he’s only concerned with his own team’s mentality and brand of attacking play.

“We’ve identified a few things about the opposition and we’ll work closely to eliminate their strengths, but again the focus is on our football.”

Adelaide United Youth will face Melbourne City Youth in Round 2 of the Foxtel Y-League 2017/18 season on Saturday, 25 November at Marden Sports Complex in a curtain-raiser to the Westfield W-League. Kick-off is at 4.00pm ACDT. Gates open at 3:30pm.
