Ferreira confident of a result against Mariners

With Adelaide United getting ready for a trip to Central Coast Stadium to face the Mariners on Sunday, Reds winger, Fabio Ferreira, has said the team’s current form has made life great for everyone at the club.

“When you’re winning, everything is good and we’re playing well too, so it makes it all better,” Ferreira said.

“Everybody’s happy and confident for the games ahead.

“It’s been a tough (couple of) weeks, very high intensity and a lot of games, so it’s good for us to recover a little bit and get back to it again on Sunday.

“Everyone is training normally and well and hopefully we can keep it like this because it’s hard when you play so many games.”

But even with such a high number of games in recent weeks, United have coped very well and are yet to lose this competitive season. And Ferreira said this great run of results has the entire squad feeling as confident as possible.

“We’re very confident and positive. We’re going to go there (Central Coast Stadium) and try to win the game and take the three points.

“This season we are stronger because we know exactly what we have to do when on the pitch and have worked hard to know it.

“If we keep doing what we’re doing and playing the way we are (playing), I think it is going to be very hard to stop us.”

Although still early in the season, Ferreira, himself, has struggled with ankle and hamstring injuries this campaign, but said he’s ready to put them behind him and focus on regaining full match fitness and doing whatever possible to prevent being sidelined further.

“My ankle is very good now. The last injury I had was a hamstring problem, but hopefully from now I have no hamstring or ankle (problems) and I keep going well for the rest of the season,” he continued.

“(My legs) are fresh, I am just doing a bit more work (to gain fitness). Once I am 100 per cent fit and 100 per cent well, I’ll keep doing what I am already doing – my best.

“Now I just have to work hard to get my spot back.”

Adelaide United face Central Coast Mariners at Central Coast Stadium in Round 7 of the Hyundai A-League on Sunday, 23 November. Kick off is at 4.30pm ACDT.
