Reds defender Tarek Elrich has been handed a 2 match ban by the Match Review Panel following an off the ball incident with Melbourne Heart player Aziz Behich.

The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Alan Contini convened to consider the following incident from Round 26 of the Hyundai A-League:

1. The incident involving Tarek Elrich (Adelaide United FC) in or around the 33rd minute of Adelaide United FC-s match against Melbourne Heart FC on Friday evening. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Tarek Elrich was issued with a direct red card. The MRP confirmed that Tarek Elrich will serve the Minimum Sanction of two (2) matches, being the Mandatory Match Suspension (1) plus one (1) additional match.

The club has no right of appeal due to the minimum sanction being imposed for an ‘off the ball’ incident. Elrich will miss the Reds final regular season match against the Newcastle Jets and the first final but will be available should the Reds progress further into the finals series.
