Adelaide United FC has been given a boost ahead of Friday night-s showdown against Sydney FC with Marcelo Carrusca and Osama Malik both cleared of significant injury following Sunday-s win over the Newcastle Jets.

Following medical assessment after the duo underwent scans yesterday evening, the results showed no strains or ligament damage.

Carrusca came off with just over 20 minutes to go in Sunday-s game with groin soreness, the scan revealing some inflammation but no strain, although he is nursing a number of large contusions from the physical encounter.

Malik-s game ended after 77 minutes with an ankle problem but scans have cleared him of any major issue meaning he is a strong chance to be available to line up against the Sky Blues.

With the positive prognosis, Carrusca could also come up for the game with Sydney FC, the Reds- medical staff to monitor his progress in the coming days leading up to the clash.

One thing for certain is that the Reds will be without the suspended Jeronimo after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season, but on the flipside, winger Fabio Ferreira is set to be available for selection after he missed the club-s past two games with an adductor injury.

Tickets for Friday-s game are available through Ticketek.
