Adelaide United’s two Danish recruits, Michael Jakobsen and Ken Ilsø, reveal they have adjusted well to their new surroundings.

The pair joined the Reds during the offseason and have impressed in the Club’s FFA Cup 2018 run to the final.

Jakobsen moved from fellow Hyundai A-League outfit Melbourne City, while Ilsø arrived following a prolific spell in Southeast Asia.

Jakobsen, who received five caps with Denmark, said the move to Adelaide has been an easy transition for himself and his family.

“It’s a good group of boys here, so I’ve really enjoyed it and settled with the family,” Jakobsen said at the Season Launch on Saturday night.

The 32-year-old believes the talent in the squad is high and suggested the Reds gruelling pre-season and successful cup push will ultimately be advantageous in the upcoming Hyundai A-League campaign.

“I think we’ve a good quality in the team,” he said.

“Pre-season was hard and I think we’ll benefit from it now and we’re in the final and doing pretty well at the moment.”

Meanwhile, Ilsø stated he was immediately convinced to sign for the Reds after talking to Head Coach, Marco Kurz.

“When it comes to football, I always move for the project and for the professionalism and for my goals as a professional footballer,” Ilsø explained.

“And Marco, he called and I listened to his ideas about the team and that’s the reason I came here and then later on I found out about the amazing sunsets.”

The former Fortuna Düsseldorf attacker said the arduous pre-season implemented by Kurz is something he is familiar with given his time in Europe.

“It’s been good, Marco knows me from Germany so it’s not something new for me to run a lot of kilometres in the sessions,” he said.

“And it’s a part of the style here as well and during the pre-season and FFA Cup games we’ve shown it’s one of our strengths as well.”
