Adelaide United will travel to Adelaide Shores Football Centre to take on fifth-placed West Adelaide in Round 17 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds will be desperate to get back to their killer form, and take the three points to help avoid the danger of slipping into the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, West Adelaide have looked revitalised as of late and will want to continue to cement their spot in the top six and push for a finals berth.

Adelaide United were victorious over the Blue and Whites when they last met in Renmark, in a great 3-1 performance with goals from Ryan Strain, Pacifique Niyongabire and Blake Carpenter.

Last week, Tommy Briscoe’s hat-trick gave West Adelaide the points over Cumberland United in what was a tussling match.

And a Nathan Konstandopoulos wonder-strike was not enough in the end for the Young Reds, as they were defeated 1-2 by Para Hills Knights.

Huss Skenderovic’s side are well-known for their threatening youth, having taken down the big names of the league, West Adelaide included.

“This game is a very different dynamic to the last time we played them (in Renmark),” said Skenderovic.

“They are a youthful team, they play direct but we like to play the ball around. We’re looking forward to the challenge and want to bounce back from a close game against Para Hills.

“We’re playing some good football but we need to take our chances especially against a team like West Adelaide, we need to ensure we’re clinical.

“Para Hills and West Adelaide are similar, so we expect to dictate the majority of the play, spread the ball around and put our stamp on the game.

“Every game is crucial at this point in the season and we need make sure we maximise every opportunity.”

The Young Reds visit the Adelaide Shores Football Centre at West Beach to face West Adelaide on Saturday, 8 July. Kick-off is 3pm, Reserves at 1pm.
