Craig Goodwin joined Adelaide United in 2014, returning home to South Australia following stints with fellow Hyundai A-League clubs Melbourne City and Newcastle Jets. Renowned for his precision, Goodwin’s versatility is paramount to his game, as he is as effective going forward as he is tracking back. Utilised out wide as a full-back or winger, Goodwin’s ability to deliver precise balls towards United’s front-men is a constant threat for opposition defences, in conjunction with his seemingly endless amounts of energy. His capacity from set pieces is another important aspect to his game and whether he’s striking towards goal directly from free kicks, or curling balls into the box, Goodwin always has opposing goalkeepers and defenders scrambling in attempts to get the ball to safety. So far, he has two international appearances to his name for the Socceroos, and with a strong first season with the Reds already under his belt, further caps could definitely be on the horizon.
