Adelaide United would like to advise Spanish forward, Sergio Cirio, has been ruled out of football for an indefinite period of time with significant medial ligament damage to his right knee.

Cirio was fouled by Western Sydney Wanderers defender, Jack Clisby in the opening 53 seconds of the Reds’ clash with last season’s runners-up.

The forward attempted to play-on through his injury, however the damage caused by Clisby’s challenge was too significant for the Spaniard  to continue and he was soon replaced.

This comes only a few weeks after Cirio returned from a fibula fracture that he sustained in pre-season and could see him miss up to 10 weeks.

Adelaide United wishes Sergio a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible.
