Forward Sergio Cirio is relishing the opportunity to face another world class side from his home-land, Spain.

With Villarreal claiming a 2-1 win over Malaga on Sunday and cementing a Europa League spot for next season last week, Cirio believes this will be the perfect way to end the season against a Spanish club.

Malaga who visited Adelaide last July and played the Reds at Adelaide Oval as part of the LFP World Challenge, were deafted by Villarreal corutesy of a Gerard Moreno double.

Villarreal will be hitting the shores of Australia for the first time in its 92-year history. It will also be the first time a La Liga side will play at Coopers Stadium.

“Villarreal are a very good club and they also play very good football,’’ Cirio said.

“We’re playing at Coopers and I think the game will be very good for the fans and for us. They are one of the best clubs in Spain.

“They have many good players and one of them is Giovani dos Santos (from Mexico).

“He’s quick and very good in one-on-one situations and he’s a left winger or a No. 10.”

Villarreal, nicknamed El Submarí Groguet (Yellow Submarine) due to its yellow home kit, closes its season with a clash against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday before flying to Adelaide next week.
