Adelaide United Football Club is delighted to announce the re-signing of Argentinian playmaker, Marcelo Carrusca, for a further two years.

Carrusca, who has been with Adelaide United since first signing in 2012, was on the verge of being out of contract at the end of the current season. However, after today putting pen-to-paper on a new deal, Carrusca, one of the league’s most talented attacking players, will remain a Red until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season.

Carrusca has made a total of 63 appearances for Adelaide United and has scored 16 goals in the process. He was also part of the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup winning side in December 2014 and was selected by fans to play in the A-League All Stars squad when it faced Italian giants, Juventus, last August.

Speaking after signing his contract extension, Carrusca explained how he has always intended to remain with Adelaide and is now looking forward to a successful future with his teammates and the club.

“I am so happy to renew my contract for two more seasons,” Carrusca said.

“I’ve re-signed because I’ve wanted, since I arrived here, to always stay at this club for many years. I will do my best for the team like I try to do every single training and every single game, so now I can fully concentrate and focus on (the rest of) our games.

“One of the reasons (for re-signing) was because of my teammates. Most of the players have signed also and we have to keep this group (together) if we want to be successful in this league. Another reason is because I love the style that we play and Josep is another big part in my decision.

“I love this club and my family is happy here, also. The environment at every training session, the lifestyle in Adelaide – everything is fantastic and everything is going well.

“As a group we have many objectives, we want to make the finals, be in the top three, then win the championship. I know it is very difficult because it’s a tough league, but I believe in this team and we can be very successful.”

Head Coach, Josep Gombau, expressed his delight with the extension to the Argentine’s contract, also saying it’s even further proof of the unity within the club.

“All of the club is happy to have re-signed Chelo and to have him with us for two more years because it’s a very good extension,” Gombau said.

“He’s a player that everybody knows for his high quality and for what he has brought to our games. To have him here with us for two more years is a luxury and I’m sure we’ll all continue to enjoy his football.

“This shows how close the group is. We have a good group of players and they are committed to the club and everybody wants to be here. Our future looks good and we’ll (work) step-by-step to become a bigger club in the Hyundai A-League.”
