A six-goal thriller saw Makenzy Doniak and Emily Condon get on the scoresheet, but Brisbane Roar dug deep to win 2-4 in Round 13 of the Westfield W-League at Marden Sports Complex on Sunday.

Emily Hodgson and Emily Condon were named in the starting XI ahead of Grace Abbey and Adriana Jones who are injured. Ivan Karlovic listed an otherwise identical line-up that beat Newcastle Jets in Round 11.

It was a tight contest before Hayley Raso broke the deadlock for the visitors against the run of play, with an expertly finished strike after a pulsating run from deep inside Roar’s half.

Makenzy Doniak shot back an instant reply for the Reds with a powerful equaliser following impressive play on the left hand side by Emily Condon.

It was Emily Condon again who headed past Mackenzie Arnold for Adelaide to steal the lead in the second half when her volley smashed the crossbar. Alex Chidiac followed up for a brave assist to head back across goal to Condon who scored into an empty net on the hour mark.

With momentum behind the visitors, Raso led Toby into the perfect position to tap-in and level the match. Shortly after, an involuntary deflection by Jenna McCormick saw Brisbane regain the lead with less than ten minutes to go.

Roar extended their lead through a sumptuous lob by Emily Gielnik in additional time to win the match and claim back top spot of the W-League.

Key Moments:

20’ | GOAL: Raso goes on a splintering run with Allira Toby’s through ball, and finishes beautifully.

22’ | GOAL! Doniak latches onto Emily Condon’s assist and hits a thunderous shot that answers back to Brisbane’s goal immediately. The belter levels the scoring.
