Adelaide United Powerchair Football Team reach quarter finals

Last month our Adelaide United Powerchair Football team travelled to Sydney to compete in the 2020 APFA Club Championship at the Quay Centre.

The Reds finished the campaign with two wins, one draw and five losses during the week-long tournament as they reached the Quarter Finals.

Newcastle Jets Powerchair Football Club prevailed past Central Coast Mariners Powerchair Football Team in the title decider with a 5-2 triumph to clinch the championship.

However, Adelaide made significant improvement from past events under the guidance of Head Coach, Godfrey Ntakiyiruta.

Chantel Bongiovanni was a standout performer for the South Australians and was in the race for the Golden Guard Award, the accolade for the competition’s leading goal scorer, following a strong start to the tournament.

Chantel, Santo Bongiovanni, Jonathan Grigg, Travis Ashworth, Jonathan Nguyen, and Nathan Van Roy can be extremely proud of their efforts and for playing with a great sense of pride and determination.

Adelaide United would also like to thank SA Powerchair Football, One Culture, Australian Powerchair Football Inc., Pickering Transport Group, and Powerchair Sports Victoria.

The aforementioned organisations each played their part in making the tournament possible and a success, and were responsible for helping support our team.
