Adelaide United FC is delighted to announce a $1 million sponsorship deal with Clean Energy Enterprises (CEE).

Adelaide United FC is delighted to announce a key sponsorship deal with Clean Energy Enterprises (CEE), the $1 million deal to position the company as the sole major sponsor and major partner of the finals bound Reds.

For the duration of its 2012/13 Finals Series campaign and the next two Hyundai A-League seasons, Adelaide United will have CEE-s Solarshop logo displayed across the front of the playing shirts. Furthermore, the CEE logo will also be present on the ‘front of shorts- up until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Importantly, Adelaide United FC will become one of the few sporting clubs in Australia (if not the only one) to employ a full-time Sustainability Officer with the aim of becoming the first sporting club in the nation to be carbon neutral.

The news is welcome relief for the club which lost its main sponsor Unleash Solar last month after it went into Administration.

CEE has since agreed to buy the assets of Unleash Solar. The sponsorship agreement was not part of the deal but CEE Managing Director Daniel Cobb and Adelaide United Chairman Greg Griffin saw the benefits to both parties of forming a relationship.

Mr Griffin said the agreement with CEE had come at the right time for the club.

“It is great that on the eve of our first final this Sunday we are able to make such a great announcement,” Mr Griffin said.

“Adelaide United is very much part of the sporting fabric in Adelaide and we look forward to working with CEE to become the first sporting club in Australia, and one of only few in the world, to be carbon neutral.”

Mr Cobb, who also bought South Australian based Solarshop when it went into Administration in 2012, said the agreement demonstrated CEE’s commitment to the South Australian market and to Adelaide as the home of Solarshop.

“Our corporate message is about sustainability and through Adelaide United we have a great opportunity to show how corporate Australia and a sporting organisation can work together for the benefit of the community, the clean energy economy and the environment. To us, there are many winners with our announcement today,” Mr Cobb said.

“Solarshop is the only brand in the solar industry with a presence and infrastructure in every state and we believe the exposure Adelaide United will provide us will play a vital in spreading the Solarshop and sustainability message.”

“We also believe that South Australia has done more to encourage the clean energy message than any other state and that is demonstrated in the fact that it has almost double the penetration of domestic solar panels than any other state.”
