Adelaide prepare for TV glory

There will be an extra edge to the TV match when Adelaide United host Perth Glory in front of a national audience on Fox Sports and ABC TV on Sunday.

** This match has been moved to a 4pm (local time) kick-off

The pair are separated by just one point and a foothold on second spot is potentially up for grabs, with Adelaide having been knocked from that position last weekend following their 1-0 home loss to Sydney FC.

Adelaide coach Jamie Harnwell will be coming up against his former side for the first time since departing the WA outfit in somewhat acrimonious circumstances during the off-season.

No one knows the Glory better than Harnwell whom he led to a breakthrough premiership last term, and that subplot offers an intriguing extra layer to this match-up.

A tight intense contest is on offer with both teams looking cohesive in their overall play, but struggling to find the net with any great consistency.

In that regard Adelaide striker Rosie Sutton will be one to watch, having scored the club’s only hat-trick this season and, like Harnwell, is facing her former side for the first time.

Both sides are coming off defeats but victory would be a huge boost as the second half of the regular season gets underway.

Adelaide have a shocking record of two wins and ten defeats in their 12 matches against their cross-border rivals, although their most recent meeting last season was a surprise 1-0 win.

A repeat of that scoreline on the impressive Coopers Stadium surface would do just nicely for the Lady Reds as they eye a maiden finals berth.

The match will be followed by the Hyundai A-League meeting between the same two clubs.
