Johan Absalonsen admits the better team prevailed after scoring the winner in Adelaide United’s 2-1 thriller over Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

The Danish international netted his second Hyundai A-League goal in as many matches handing Head Coach, Marco Kurz, his first three points in the competition.

Adelaide overran their opponents in the second-half as Ryan Kitto restored parity in the 88th minute before Absalonsen stole the show with a thumping strike, cancelling out Massimo Maccarone’s opener.

“It’s perfect, I love the weather and the football,” he told Fox Sports following the match after slotting a 92nd minute goal in emphatic fashion.

“I think we were the best team after 1-1 and also after the first-half.

“We came out in the second-half as the best team so it was a deserved win, but also a quality performance from the team.”

Absalonsen also praised the team’s character, especially considering the short turnaround and arduous travel from last Sunday’s match away to Wellington Phoenix.

“It’s always hard when you go down 1-0 two matches in a row,” he said.

“But still we got four points now and that’s a performance we can be proud of.”

Adelaide United host Melbourne Victory in Round 3 of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season on Friday, 20 October at Adelaide Oval. Kick-off is at 7.20pm ACDT.
