Five huge games, four at home. December shapes as a gigantic month for the Reds in Season 8.
With five games, four of which are at home, there is no doubt December looms as a gigantic and defining month in the context of Adelaide United-s season.
Over the time of the year known as the festive season, the Reds will host last season-s Hyundai A-League champions Brisbane Roar, rivals Melbourne Victory, Alessandro Del Piero and Sydney FC, and also renew hostilities with the Wellington Phoenix. Throw in a trip to Parramatta Stadium to tackle Western Sydney Wanderers, and you have got five games that could well have a telling effect on United-s run towards the post in 2013.
Considering what transpired last season which saw the Reds finish second last and have a change of coach mid season, few would have predicted the way the Reds have come out and started Season 8. Adelaide United has accumulated 19 points out of a possible 27 from the opening nine rounds, positioning them second just a point below league leaders the Central Coast Mariners.
This leaves John Kosmina-s men in a promising position leading up to a string of home games broken up by a game in Sydney-s west.
It starts this Friday night for the highly anticipated visit of Melbourne Victory to Hindmarsh, followed by the Phoenix heading across the Tasman for a clash in Adelaide on Sunday, December 16.
Then comes the Reds- only away game for the month as they meet WSW on Friday 21 December before two festive season crackers to round off the year. Adelaide United will host reigning champions Brisbane Roar on Boxing Day and if that was not enough to look forward to, the Reds will end 2012 with a clash against Sydney FC and their marquee man, Italian superstar Alessandro Del Piero, on New Years Eve.
