Adelaide United Youth are away from home this week, against MetroStars in the third round of the South Australian National Premier League 2018 Season, at TK Shutter Reserve.

The Young Reds enjoyed a great result and three-points at home last week against Adelaide Comets.

Head Coach, Paul Pezos, was very happy with his team’s performance against what he believes to be one of the stronger teams in the National Premier League.

“Obviously we were quite pleased with the result, getting the three points over a good team.

“I was delighted for the boys, as a team it’s a great result, and our game plan was carried out well by the players and at a high quality, too.”

Pezos was also quick to point out what was a great performance from Pacifique Niyongabire, who scored a brace to give the boys a comfortable lead;

“He’s something different, he’s a special player and he can make things happen at any time.

“We’ve got big wraps on Pacifique, and if he continues to grow as a player and as an individual he’s got a big future ahead of him.”

Pezos was clear though that his team isn’t about individual players, but were focused on being a strong unit.

“It’s not about the one player, it is about teamwork, but if we can get him on the ball on Saturday, we can let him do his magic.

But we’ve got quality all over the park that can hurt teams.”

Pezos was positive that with the performance last week, his team should be confident going into this week’s fixture against MetroStars.

“We’re always confident, no matter who we play. Again, some tough opposition for us, but it’s about identifying their strengths and weaknesses, eliminating their strengths and targeting their weaknesses. And hopefully doing that, we can get three-points on Saturday”

Coming up against another tough team, Pezos was optimistic after a good week of training from his boys.

“The boys have been good in training and over the whole time that I’ve been with them.

“They’re young, but they’re professionals and their commitment to the game and to training has always been great.”

Adelaide United play at the TK Shutter Reserve for Round 3 of the National Premier League 2018 season on Saturday, 3 March against MetroStars. Kick-off is at 5:00pm ACDT.
