Adelaide United will look to continue their recent form of magic when they face Croydon Kings in Round 9 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues at Polonia Reserve on Saturday.

Adelaide United sit 9th on the league standings, following a great run of results which began in the Riverland with a 3-1 win over West Adelaide, a 3-3 draw against Adelaide Blue Eagles and a triumphant 4-1 win over powerhouse, MetroStars, last weekend.

As Croydon Kings await their opponent, there is no doubt that the Young Reds will come out in force, and ascend to Croydon’s throne.

Although, fifth-placed Croydon will not be an easy task for United, as they played out a 0-0 draw with the reigning champions, Campbelltown City last week and also slayed NPL giants, Adelaide City in a 0-3 win back in Round 6.

Both sides have dangerous men in the front third, Ryan Strain, Apostolos Stamatelopoulos and Pacifique Niyongabire for Adelaide, while Kings’ Paul Radice will be sure to have a say in front of goals.

Adelaide United Head Coach, Huss Skenderovic, says time was key for his side’s recent success in results, and also the belief in themselves that it could become possible.

“The past two training sessions have been really great the guys are in high spirits,” he said.

“Following the win against MetroStars last week has really brought confidence amongst the team and has sparked belief in themselves.

“It was all about time and patience, especially with a young side and the dynamics that come with coaching youth footballers.

“Now that it has come together, it has been fantastic, we know we will not win every game and we might go into a few slumps, but we will continue to work hard and get better in our development.”

Skenderovic said there is still no expectations set upon his team, but it is more the fact of trying to play consistent football and put in the best performance.

“There are no expectations for the team, only to be consistent which is key for young footballers.

“This week against Croydon we will go in with the same mindset as last week, and play our football.”

The Young Reds Boss revealed he and the side has been commended on their recent performances, and they will only get better.

“I received a few comments last week after the 4-1 win against Metro, and it was really positive.

“To be in our position and what we have achieved recently is ‘scary’, and we will just get better.

“Especially beating top teams like West Adelaide and MetroStars.”

Adelaide United’s Youth Team will take on Croydon Kings at Polonia Reserve in Round 9 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League on Saturday, 29 April 2017. Kick-off is at 3.00pm, Reserves kick-off at 1.00pm.
