The Young Reds will head into their match with Adelaide City full of confidence after their victory in the NPL’s Regional Round last weekend, winning 2-1 over West Adelaide.

United’s Youth Team Head Coach, Mark Jones, said he is also very confident and full of positivity that his team will perform well against Adelaide City and continue to progress throughout the rest of the NPL season, as they continue to train hard and display their abilities on the field.

“I was very pleased with the performance last week against West Adelaide, and the team have come back to Adelaide in good spirits and our confidence has grown,” Jones said.

“We are heading in the right direction with our football and performances, and we are looking to continue this and develop more.

“As a team, we are positive and we believe that if we keep up with our form and become better, we have a good chance in this league.

“We had a light training session on Monday morning and we’ve done some gym work during the week, all helping us prepare for the game on Saturday.

“We have continued to work on the same aspects of our football as usual, becoming more effective in the last third and focus on scoring more goals.

“Another area that we look to work on is limiting goals and free kicks of the opposition, and keeping clean sheets, especially against a team like Adelaide City.”

Focusing on their opponent, Adelaide City, Jones said he knows that they are one of the most successful teams in South Australia, but believes that his Young Reds can overcome them if they continue their recent form.

“Adelaide City are one of the biggest teams in the state, with a strong squad,” he continued. “They are also very well disciplined so we cannot afford to take them lightly in any sense.

“With the confidence of our squad, it is possible we can get the three points but we have to keep working hard in our training sessions and perform well on game day by focusing on our football.”
