Living the Dream
Nikola Mileusnic never imagined he would be playing professional football at the age of 23. It was always a dream as a youngster to one day ply his trade in the Hyundai A-League, but he felt his opportunity had passed.
Like most players aspiring to make it to the highest level they encounter setbacks along the journey. Mileusnic was no exception. The winger spent the formative years of his career in the Adelaide United youth team but was unable to secure a first-team contract and was subsequently released – returning to the local National Premier League (NPL).
Not deterred by this stumbling block, it only forced Mileusnic to work harder to realise his ultimate objective as he reunited with his boyhood club White City. After strong performances with the Warriors, Mileusnic felt he needed a change of scenery, after the side were relegated to the second division at the end of the 2015 season.
In 2016 a move to NPL outfit Adelaide City followed and as they say the rest is history. It was the impetus he needed to get to the next level. Mileusnic thrived under the tutelage of head coach Damian Mori, consistently starring for the black and whites on a weekly basis. He terrorised opposition defenders on the wing and scored at a prolific rate – netting 16 goals in 25 matches for the club, while laying on countless assists for his teammates.
